Federal Government Launches Telecommuting Web Site

As part of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) plans to promote telecommuting to federal employees, a dedicated web site has been launched. On July 5th, the interagency telework and telecommuting web site provides information on telecommuting policies and programs from throughout the federal government. OPM teamed up with the General Services Administration to launch the site.

The site includes the following:

• Links to a recent report by OPM on telecommuting progress throughout the federal government.
  
• Information on telework locations.
  
• Information on OSHA guidelines for teleworking federal employees.
  
• Links to information and guidance from the Coast Guard, Labor Department, and the IRS.
  
• A checklist for safety at a remote work site, such as the home.
